Artist Name: Microstripe
Main Style: Breakz
Substyle: Drum and Bass
Type: dj
Country : South Africa
Biography: Previous bookings:
Microstripe began her musical journey at the age of 6. Being trained on for many years on piano, she decided to buy an electric guitar and played in a couple of alternative/metal bands, both guitar and bass. Although a sworn supporter of live music, this inevitably gave way to the whole electronic scene, being a supporter of Cape Town drum n bass for many years.

After being introduced to djing using a friends turntables, she was hooked and went over to London to work, visit the record stores and purchase her own turntables. Firstly learning how to mix hip hop, she now plays a selection of breaks and drum n bass, incorporating elements of scratching.

Musical style mainly new skool breaks, mixed with elements of drum n bass as well as hip hop

Microstripe has been spinning her beats in some form or another since 2001. Moving between hip hop, drum n bass, breaks and electro, she has played at a number of venues around Cape Town over the last few years, as well as a few gigs in Johannesburg and London. Some of these include the Big Love parties, Obs and Long Street festivals, her own annual New Years Eve outdoor electronica festival and Liquidfridge events. Recently she has played alongside UK breaks producer General Midi on his SA tour.
